According to Ms. Keiko Ueda, director of Tokyo Breath Clinic, an outpatient clinic specializing in bad breath for women, “Saliva is naturally smooth and odorless. It increases to the point that it causes an unpleasant odor,” revealing the identity of bad breath.
Saliva tends to decrease with age, and more attention is required in self-restraint life wearing a mask. Mouth breathing, stress, slouching and not speaking much can all contribute to a dry mouth.

Due to suffocation, you unconsciously breathe through your mouth, and before you know it, your mouth is dry, and you tend to neglect hydration. The inside of the mask becomes a hotbed of bad breath.
When the autonomic nerves are disturbed by stress, only sticky saliva will be produced. The natural self-cleaning action of saliva is reduced, making it easier for bacteria to grow.
